The European project IMAGINE is developing new calculation methods for railway, road, industrial and aircraft noise. IMAGINE will standardise the Harmonoise methods and will provide guidelines on how to use these methods for noise mapping and noise action plans (e.g. traffic flow management) in the EC. Qcity is an integrated research project partly funded by the European Commission under the 6th Framework Programme. The aim of the project is to develop an integrated technology infrastructure for the efficient control of road and rail ambient noise by considering the attenuation of noise generation at source at both vehicle/infrastructure levels. SILENCE, was a three-year research project co-funded by the European Commission, that has developed an integrated methodology for the improved control of surface transport noise in urban areas. According to the project website, now that the project has come to its end, it has unveiled world-leading technologies and innovative strategies to reduce noise both from rail and road in European cities and for European citizens. X-NOISE is a collaborative network project in the area of aeroacoustics. To lower the exposure of community to aircraft noise.
